Unlocking Healing Through EMDR

EMDR Therapy with Christina Clapperton, MEd, MSW, RSW, EMDR. Christina’s extensive experience and compassionate approach make her the perfect ally in your EMDR therapy journey. With her guidance, you will explore and process distressing memories, allowing you to release their grip on your emotional well-being.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful tool to help you heal from trauma, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. Our approach is grounded in compassion and evidence-based techniques, allowing you to reclaim your well-being and find peace.

EMDR is a highly effective psychotherapy approach that assists individuals in processing distressing memories and experiences. By integrating bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, EMDR helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, allowing you to heal and move forward.

Who is EMDR for?

If you have had something bad or distressing happen to you, you could benefit from EMDR therapy. EMDR can help resolve traumatic or distressing events that happen to mostly everyone at some point in our lives. Some examples include memories of being picked on, left out, depressed and disappointed. It also addresses memories of feeling or being neglected by our parents, spouse, or someone you looked up to or expected to receive validation or love from. EMDR also effectively resolves memories of particularly scary events in our lives, such as car crashes, fires, crimes, and weather related events to name a few. EMDR therapy also resolves memories of things no person should have to go through including physical abuse, verbal abuse, and sexual abuse and assault.

What Happens in an EMDR Therapy Session?

During an EMDR therapy session:

  • You’ll engage in a guided discussion to access and activate the negative experience and the desired adaptive resolution.
  • Sets of rapid eye movements (or other forms of bilateral stimulation) will be applied to facilitate processing.
  • You’ll be encouraged to freely associate and allow your brain to process the experience.
  • Sets of eye movements will alternate with brief reports about your experiences.
  • EMDR processing will continue until the past experience has been updated to a more adaptive present perspective.

Using What You’ve Learned:

After updating the disturbing experiences, you and your therapist will collaborate to integrate these new insights and perspectives into your daily life. For long-standing issues, multiple sessions may be necessary.

Do you have an insecure attachment style?

While EMDR is inherently somatic (body wisdom-based), Christina will use Somatic EMDR or Attachment-Focused EMDR for those who have caregiver attachment trauma that is affecting their ability to securely attach to healthy intimate partners.

    EMDR Pricing

    $175 for 50 minutes

$225 for 75 minutes (Extended EMDR may be indicated for C-PTSD or if more time grounding is desired)

    Intensive Therapy

    Focused Support for Accelerated Healing

With the key focus of EMDR therapy, Divine Alchemy offers intensive therapy sessions designed to provide concentrated treatment and support to accelerate your healing. Our intensive therapy is a tailored approach to help you find relief and regain stability. Intensive Therapy has the benefit of uninterrupted momentum for processing traumatic memories. Instead of returning to the traumatic material week after week, you’ll have the opportunity to work potentially through weeks or months of material in just a few days. With the guidance of Christina Clapperton, our practitioner, you’ll receive dedicated support and attention for your intensive journey.

In intensive sessions, it’s quite possible that your overall therapy time could be condensed into just a few days. Intensives typically consist of 2-hour sessions in the morning and 2-hour sessions in the afternoon, spanning 3-5 consecutive days.

    Advantages of Intensive Therapy:

    • Efficient Treatment: Intensive therapy optimizes treatment efficiency.
    • Reduced Destabilization Risk: It minimizes the risk of treatment-related destabilization.
    • Treatment Continuity: There’s a reduced risk of life crises disrupting your treatment.
    • Rapid Results: Intensive therapy often leads to swift relief, preventing further suffering or harm from symptoms.

Compared to other trauma therapies, intensive therapy approximately halves the treatment duration, thanks to the effectiveness of longer sessions.
